The Association/ Coles

Went downtown last night to check out a new bar, The Association. It's on 6th and Main, part of the ever-growing downtown nightlife. If I didn't really like having a backyard, I could probably live the urban life downtown. The Association was really cool ... a lounge with a touch of Vegas, downtown Vegas. All turn-of-the-century style cocktails on the menu. Some really strange ones, although all pretty solid. Had a couple beers and then a "Derby" bourbon drink.

It is right next door to the newly re-opened Cole's, so we decided to head over for a French Dip before heading home. They claim to be the originators of the French Dip so it has to be good, right? Good was about all it was. Small, not much meat. The bun actually looked like they picked it up in the bread aisle at Ralphs. The sides of cole slaw and bacon potato salad were better than the sandwich. One shining star was the horseradish sauce for the sandwich. Mmmm, hot.
